THOMAS & JANE | Wedding

oooooooo weeeeeeeeeee!  We have been brimming with excitement to show some photos from Thomas & Jane’s wedding.  When they first met with us they mentioned that they weren’t having a traditional wedding and that they were willing to go anywhere for their wedding portraits.  From that moment we knew that these two wanted something different so we searched high and low to find them a place a little off the beaten path.  Their location has got to be one of our favorite finds all year!  Of course, it helps that these two are scrumptious lil’ lovebirds willing to do anything!

Thomas & Jane — you guys are incredible!  thank you for trusting us and letting us have so much time with you!  enjoy the teasers!

JENNI & KURT | Weddings

I remember Jenni coming out after her dress and veil were put on and smiling from ear to ear.  Her mother had tears in her eyes as she saw Jenni all dressed and ready to go.  As she walked out she said, “I feel so pretty.”  As weird as it may sound, that’s the first time I’ve ever heard a bride say that.  And I couldn’t be happier for Jenni cause I could see it in her eyes how pretty she felt and, well, she really is beautiful that day and everyday.  

Jenni & Kurt were married at the historic La Valencia.  They opted to see one another before their ceremony which gave us plenty of time to shoot at the cove.  No ingredient was missing from this wedding!  We had lots of tears, lots of laughs, TONS of dancing and an abundance of love.  This was the very first wedding we’ve shot with Brazilian drummers & dancers and boy, was that a show!  Of course, Jenni & Kurt had some pretty awesome dance moves and were able to keep up with them!

MATEO FAMILY | Portraits

Star fish hands, turkey legs and jack-o-lantern teeth are just a couple of silly yet endearing nicknames that Christine & Millan call their little James. Well, i personally think James looks like a little man about to go to work because he has the most mature haircut for an 11 month old! i just felt like handing him a brief case and the keys to my car and sending him on his way! :) He’s just about the cutest little kid ever!

Christine and I go waaaaaayyyy back and i have to say she looks just as, if not more, fantastic than when i first met her. She claims she’s on the “Run around after a child” diet. Hmmmmmm….as much as i love playing with kids, i think i’ll stick to diet pepsi and occasional workouts! :)

Christine & Millan & James  -  we heart you guys! :)  and now that we found out how close you live we just might start stalking you! haha  thanks for being a lot of fun and letting us let james jump on your tummy! whooo hoooo

FRANK & ANNA | Wedding

Our first wedding of the year with the ever cool, ever fabulous Williams/Choi family! We say this cause we don’t just love Frank and Anna but we absolutely ADORE their family and friends!  Their wedding took place at the Wien’s Family Winery in Temecula and all the details were awesome from the asian inspired bamboo name tags, the paper lanterns, flowers, and even their ultra cool cake topper! 

Anna and Frank- Anna, you looked g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s. !!  Frank, you didn’t look bad yourself!  :)

ZACH AND MORGAN | engagement

June 1, 2009 – 2:10 am

Zach and Morgan will be getting married later this year at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.  Why the fairgrounds you ask?  They hit it off while waiting in line to place a bet on a horse and from there, the rest is history!  Since Zach is a fireman, we had the awesome opportunity to photograph a fire engine and incorporate it into their photos.  We had a blast and can’t wait to their big day!

PROMO VIDEO

About a month ago, we commissioned NR3 Video productions to create a promo video of our company. After a lot of planning, we decided to film it at the Salton Sea.  It was a long day of shooting but as you can see above…they did a fantastic job! We were so thrilled with their hard work on this and we can not thank them enough!

DQ QUIKEYS | Resources

So this is long overdue but we’ve been asked many a times what we use for our album design as well as for our workflow.  The secret (well, not much longer! :) ) is DQ Quikeys.  With this valuable tool we are able to process our files in an efficient manner with just a keystroke or two.  I’m especially in love with the album design capabilities.  Since we love to design all our albums free hand (no templates), I can not express enough how amazingly easy, intuitive and FAST it is to design a page spread using DQ Quikeys.  Be sure to check out all the details at www.dqquikeys.com!

A before and after of one of the actions using DQ Quikeys:

before OOC (out of camera)

after using DQ Hard Edge with opacity taken down a bit

Before (OOC) and After using a combination of Soft Color, DQ Cream and DQ Overlay. Finished off with Auto Vignette and some dodging and burning

Here are some sample album pages with some details from 2 weddings. With Quikeys, image placement, resizing and alignment is simple pimple! seriously….if you don’t have DQ Quikeyes already, you need to get it!!!
